SCIENTISTS of FSUE "VNIIFTRI" became laureates of the prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology
Moscow Region, December 11, 2019 — VNIIFTRI scientists have won the Russian Federation Government Prize in science and technology. The team earned the award for the development of a highly accurate complex of quantum time and frequency standards for advanced navigation, geodetic and digital technologies.
«The Russian Federation is one of the two nations in the world that has a global satellite navigation system of its own (GLONASS) that is fully deployed and fully operational. The system’s characteristics are determined to a great extent by the characteristics of the time and frequency, radio-technical, optical and other measuring instruments that make up the system. Time and frequency standards are especially important for navigation systems. That is why increasing the accuracy of the system is impossible without developing those standards. Receiving so significant an award as this comes as a confirmation of the urgency and importance of our research», said Sergey Donchenko, the General Director of VNIFTRI.
The scientists who shared the Prize are Sergey Donchenko (doctor of engineering science), Igor Blinov (doctor of engineering science), Oleg Denisenko (doctor of engineering science), Yuriy Domnin (doctor of engineering science), Andrey Shchipunov (doctor of engineering science), Sergey Slyusarev (doctor of engineering science), Vitaliy Palchikov (doctor of physics and mathematics) and Vacheslav Baryshev.
