The III Scientific and technical conference "Methods and means of navigation in geophysical fields" brought together more than 100 scientists and specialists
Moscow Region, October 24 – The III Scientific and Technical Conference "Methods and means of navigation in geophysical fields", held on the basis of the Russian Metrological Institute of Technical Physics and Radio Engineering (VNIIFTRI) of Rosstandart, has ended. The event was organized jointly with the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the problem of "Coordinate-temporal and navigation support" with the support of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulating and Metrology.
The Conference brought together leading Russian experts in the field of navigation and coordinate-temporal support, as well as specialists in geophysical research. During the two eventful days, the participants discussed modern methods and technologies of navigation in difficult conditions, promising means and devices for accurate orientation, as well as current research in the field of coordinate-temporal support.
The conference was opened by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Mikhailov, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the problem of "Coordinate-temporal and navigation support". In his greeting, he emphasized the relevance and significance of the event, emphasizing the contribution of Rosstandart and VNIIFTRI to the development of the GLONASS system, as well as the creation of new navigation systems using the properties of geophysical fields.
Evgeny Lazarenko, Deputy Head of Rosstandart, welcomed the participants and he noted in his speech the great interest shown to the conference by the scientific community and the event's rich agenda. The Deputy Head of Rosstandart also stressed the importance of the ongoing work on the development of noise-resistant navigation equipment and its metrological support.
During the plenary session, Sergey Karutin, Chief Designer of the GLONASS system, delivered a speech on the topic "Unified Coordinate-Temporal Support System of the Russian Federation", in which plans for the development of the system's fundamental support complex until 2030 were presented.
Of particular interest was the report by Vyacheslav Fateev, Chief Researcher at the Research Department for the development and operation of metrological support for coordinate-temporal navigation systems of FSUE VNIIFTRI, during which the latest achievements of VNIIFTRI in the field of developing and testing ground-based and space aids of geophysical navigation systems were presented, as well as promising projects for the development of ongoing work.
As part of the sectional work of the conference, reports were presented directly related to the development of equipment, means and methods used in the field of gravimetry and magnetometry. Thus, the specialists of AO “RPKB” presented the report "Study of methods for assessing the informative value of the Earth's magnetic field", emphasizing the potential of using magnetic anomalies in navigation. VNIIFTRI scientists presented the results of the development and test of the Peshekhod high-precision relative gravimeter, talked about the development of an atomic interferometer for measuring the absolute gravity, as well as the creation of a precision digital ferroprobing magnetometer. Specialists from the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology made a report on "Miniaturization technologies for optical frequency standards."
About 50 reports were presented during the conference.
At the end of the Сonference, Sergey Donchenko, General Director of FSUE VNIIFTRI, noted the importance of the event as a platform for the exchange of best practices and stressed the need for further development of cooperation between scientific organizations to successfully solve problems in the field of building advanced navigation systems in geophysical fields.
The conference participants highly appreciated the level of the reports presented and the fruitfulness of the discussions, which made it possible to identify new areas of research and development.
