VNIIFTRI hosted a meeting of TC 1.8 COOMET "Physical chemistry"

Moscow region, October 30 – A meeting of the Technical Committee of COOMET 1.8 "Physical Chemistry" was held at the Russian Metrological Institute of Technical Physics and Radio Engineering (VNIIFTRI) of Rosstandart. Over two days, representatives of the countries discussed current issues of the committee members' activities, as well as promising joint projects and tasks.

"VNIIFTRI scientists are the heads of the "Electrochemistry" and "Particle Characterization" subcommittees of the COOMET "Physical Chemistry" Technical Committee. We maintain close scientific relations with experts from international organizations, participate in international and interregional comparisons of primary standards, and constantly increase the number of calibration and measurement capabilities (СMСs) in the database of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures. Regular meetings with colleagues from other metrological organizations allow us to track the current state of our colleagues' research and open up new prospects for joint and individual work," noted Vladimir Dobrovolsky, Head of the Research Department of Physical Chemistry and Electrical Measurements at FSUE “VNIIFTRI”.

At the meeting, the experts discussed the committee's activities in 2023-2024, including an analysis of the decisions of the previous meeting, heard brief reports from the chairmen of the subcommittees, proposals to update the lists of technical experts on CMC expertise and evaluation of quality management systems, as well as reports on the current state of metrological activities in the field of chemistry and biology metrology in the COOMET member countries. Within the framework of the meeting, a training seminar "World experience in the production of reference materials of pure inorganic substances" was held.

The meeting was attended by 8 members of the TC 1.8 Committee, including: Russia, the Republic of Belarus, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and others.
