VNIIFTRI of Rosstandart takes part in the International Conference on Low Temperature Physics

Moscow Region, June 05 – Specialists from the Russian Metrological Institute of Technical Physics and Radio Engineering (VNIIFTRI) are taking part in the International Conference LT-2024 "XXXIX Meeting on Low Temperature Physics". Scientists present reports on the results of their research and experiments. The event is held in June 3-7.

 "Our institute has been conducting temperature and thermophysical studies since 1955, when the departments of high static pressures and low temperatures were transferred to VNIIFTRI from the Moscow State Institute of Standards and Measuring Instruments. Studies of specialists are always of great interest to the scientific community, both Russian and international. Participation in such a large-scale event as LT–2024 will allow not only to present the results of the work, but also to receive an immediate response from our colleagues, establish new working contacts, identify possible points of interaction and cooperation," says Eduard Aslanyan, Head of the Research Department of Metrology in Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Construction at FSUE VNIIFTRI.

 At the VNIIFTRI conference, Vladimir Kytin, a leading researcher and scientist-keeper of the state standard, presented a report on "Electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of copper (i) chromite doped with magnesium with a content close to the solubility limit" and Alexey Petukhov, head of the laboratory of the Research Department of Metrology in Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Construction, presented a report on "Ensuring the uniformity of measurements of specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity of solids in the temperature range from 2 to 300 K in the Russian Federation".

 The results of the studies and experiments of VNIIFTRI scientists were taken into account when developing the International Temperature Scale – the International Practical Temperature Scale MPTSH-68 and the International Temperature Scale MTSH-90. Currently, work is underway at VNIIFTRI to study the temperature deviation determined by the current International Temperature Scale MTSH-90, and work within the framework of an international project to develop a new international temperature scale based on the Boltzmann constant.

 The Meeting on Low Temperature Physics has been held regularly in Russia since the 1950s, and is the most representative forum in this field of Russian science, represented by the names of Nobel laureates P.L. Kapitsa, L.D. Landau, V.L. Ginzburg and A.A. Abrikosov. The main purpose of the Meeting is to present new experimental and theoretical results in low temperature physics. The Meeting discusses achievements in the main sections of this field of science: electronic phenomena at low temperatures (including nanostructures and low-dimensional systems), superconductivity, quantum liquids and crystals, low-temperature magnetism and low-temperature physics of dielectrics.
