VNIIFTRI took part in the 19th meeting of TC 1.9 "Ionizing radiation and radioactivity"

Moscow region, February 9, 2023 – Scientists of the Russian metrological institute of physical technics and radio engineering (VNIIFTRI) of Rosstandart took part in the regular meeting of COOMET Technical Committee 1.9 “Ionizing radiation and radioactivity”.

  “Metrology of ionizing radiation is an important activity of VNIIFTRI. We regularly take part in meetings and councils of international organizations, conduct comparisons of national standards, and discuss the possibilities of cooperation with our foreign colleagues. At the meetings of COOMET Technical Committee 1.9, the most important issues of further development of cooperation in this area are discussed,” says Oleg Kovalenko, Deputy Head of the Research Department of Ionizing Radiation Metrology for Research.

 During the 19^th meeting of TC 1.9 "Ionizing Radiation and Radioactivity", the issues of comparisons of national standards and development of calibration methods for measuring instruments were considered, proposals on new topics were heard, the needs for comparisons in the field of dosimetry were identified, and organizational issues were discussed, the date and format for the next meeting were determined.

 The main task of TC 1.9 is to organize and coordinate the activities of the state metrological institutions of the COOMET member countries in the field of measuring the parameters of ionizing radiation and radioactivity. At the moment, members of the committee are representatives of 18 countries, including: Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Turkey, etc.
